$38 Million 'Weapons' Surges Past Disney's Controversial $250 Million Bomb at the Box Office

It has been a difficult year at the box office for the otherwise dominant Disney. While it's still the only studio that delivered a billion-dollar hit this year, that was mostly by accident. The Lilo & Stitch remake was originally conceptualized as a streaming title, but was later given a theatrical release. Disney's other major 2025 movies, however, were all earmarked for success. Three of them were Marvel movies, while the most expensive of the lot was Snow White. The movie had a difficult production, and an even tougher publicity drive. It opened to poor reviews and a disastrous box office response. Snow White has now been overtaken by a movie that cost less than a sixth to produce.
