Some science-fiction movies impress you because the idea is strong. Some impress you because the world is rich or the effects still hold up or the ending leaves a mark. But a perfectly written sci-fi movie does something harder than that. It takes a concept that could easily sprawl, get smug, or disappear into exposition, and instead turns it into a story where every decision tightens the next one. Character, structure, dialogue, escalation, theme, and payoff all start pulling in the same direction. Nothing feels wasted. Nothing feels like the writer got distracted by the coolness of the premise.
