The Vampire Diaries might've had its storytelling mishaps throughout the seasons (especially when it came to the villains introduced in the series' latter half), but one thing is for certain, the writers knew how to deliver the most satisfying character arcs for its leads. Whether it was making a villain layered or a vampire transformation more thrilling to watch, TVD never seized to amaze fans with how characters like Elena (Nina Dobrev) or Damon (Ian Somerhalder) could evolve with every season.
