The first time The Hunger Games shows Katniss Everdeen on screen, she is already acting like an adult. She has been hunting to feed her family, raising Prim after their father's death and making sure her mother could get through another day. Then she volunteers for a death sentence, gets dressed up for television and is told to smile while the Capitol prepares to watch her fight children to the death.
