Video game adaptations have become increasingly popular, with A Minecraft Movie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie blowing up at the box office. Thus, fans can expect more of their favorite franchises getting a live-action adaptation, for better or worse. However, just because video game movies are doing well now, doesn't mean they are a new thing, since the first live-action movie of a video game came out in 1993 with Super Mario Bros.
